Agronom Plants is well-known for its production of strawberry seedlings in Poland and Europe. This is not surprising – to date the company has supplied seedlings to a large number of farmers in southern Europe. Climate change and the associated new developments in strawberry production technology are forcing changes in seedling production. The latest investment at Agronom Plants is expected to allow a significant increase in the production of tray potted seedlings.
Nearly 2 million seedlings on 2 ha
The latest investment at Agronom Plants concerns the implementation of a complete technology for the production of tray cuttings. This innovative solution is expected to ensure the automation of many of the processes involved in rooting the cuttings, nurturing them through to harvesting in late autumn. W tym roku zrobiliśmy pierwszą część inwestycji. Jest to 2 hektary gdzie się zmieści 1,2 mln sadzonek tray i 600 tys. sadzonek typu plag. This last will be sent to southern Europe. The plan is to double this area next year, and so each year we want to increase by 2 hectares plus. The machine can handle an area of 4 hectares. Thus, it will be necessary to install racks for the production of seedlings – explains Paweł Dąbrowski, owner of Agronom Plants.
